Network Security Cameras – A Look at the Pros and Cons
In recent years we have seen how different kinds of appliances have
merged into one. You have all-in-one printers, pda cellular and now
the wireless network security camera has appeared.
This practical
system has created a space of its own as a new security system. You
may have noticed them, little cameras connected to an unseen security
camera network that spans whole buildings. If you haven’t noticed
before, well, now that you know about it, you will start seeing them.
What Is A Network Security Camera (NSC)?
Also known as network IP security cameras, they are a typical web
camera that functions as a surveillance camera. Additionally, the
NSC connects to the computer network of the organization, providing
real time feed of what is happening in its facilities.
Right now they are used in retail stores, depots, offices, and
traffic and weather control. As you can see, the number of options
is almost unlimited.
How Does A Network Security Camera Work?
Each camera around the security network has its own IP address. In
case you don’t know the IP address is a number that is assigned
to each element that is connected to a network. That way, the system
can identify each one of them. Imagine it as the physical address
of any building in a city. It would be almost impossible to find them
without the address. The same happens with computer networks.
But how do you control it? The nice thing about these cameras is
that you use a typical personal computer to operate them. You can
order the camera to move to point determined areas, turn on or off
the audio, record the projection for future reference or even instruct
it to send you an email in case the camera detects unexpected movements
(specially useful at a night watch).
